So parts express is having a flash sale. I sold my infinity Ren 90's, then I sold of my Ren 80's like a fool. The 90's I don't really miss. But the Renaissance 80's I really regret selling.
I've been wanting to build something with a planar tweeter for awhile now, I miss the sound.
PE has a planar tweeter on sale, Dayton Audio PT2C-8 $40.00
So my idea is to pair that with,
Hivi M8N-6 woofer
Hivi M8N-8 woofer
Or
2X-Usher-8945A woofers
In a floorstander sealed box.
I have the woodworking part covered, it's what I really enjoy doing. Cutting, countersinking, glueing, routing, veneering etc. I absolutely find peace in the building aspect.
My weakness is crossover....period. I've read until my eyeballs burn and just don't grasp it. My last build I used Madisound and got no joy, and I think their leap is way out of date. Not the newest version. Otherwise they are an awesome resource.
So I'm curious what you think about my above listed driver selection, and if one of you that has tools for crossover sims would be willing to take a little ride with me completing them. In turn I can pay you or barter, I've got a bunch of mundorf, goertz and decent crossover stuff you can have for helping me out. They are all from Madisound and less to than a year old.
Thanks Much.

do a search for projects using the silver flute yag-20 planar, the dayton will probably work pretty much the same.
Note the test info for the yag-20 here
Zaph|Audio
perhaps s source for the exciting planar sound has been identified 😉

I had the pleasure to meet Bob Carver and listen to his latest speaker last Saturday.

He pairs the Dayton Audio PT2C-8 with the TEBM65C20F-8|Part # 297-2156. OK sure he uses 13 PT2C-8 in a shaded array with 18 of the TEBM65C20F-8 ( 9 on each side ). The effect was, well, amazing. Maybe consider one each along with your favorite woofer.
