SAA7345 destroyed by clock input?

Hi All,

I have a problem with my Marantz CD38. I built and installed a Kwak Clock 7 powered by the players power supply. Everything worked out OK, but when I connected the KC7 output to the SAA7345 (single wire and Coax cable tested) I got noise on the ground connection that made the clock waveform distort.
I tested the player and sound was improved, but I thought I could get more out of it with a dedicated clock PS to get rid of the ground plane noise.
Yesterday I installed the clock PS, and switched on the clock before the player. It took some time before I recognized this, all this time the clock was clocking the unpowered SAA7345.
Now if I switch on player and clock the disc doesn´t spin. There is no difference whether the clock is switched on or off. I can see the clock waveform on pin 13 (CRIN), but no waveform on pin 16 (16,9MHz clock output).
Have I fried the SAA7345? Any hints what to do or check?

Datasheet for the SAA7345 can be found on matthieu.benoit.free.fr/saa7345.pdf
