Hi, recently I saw on ebay some of these nice priced in different values from 0,1-10uF

it says Combined Papier / Lavsan in Oil

does anyone has experiences with those, how athey "sound"? I would use them in speaker crossovers, or amps/preamps inputs/outputs

thanks,

Slobodan

Hi Slobodan!

I tried some of those K75-10 a few month ago as output coupling caps for a dac (something around 4 to 5 uF, can't remember exactly). I found them to have a quite special sound, a bit holographic, very spacey, if you will. Good tonality, but not exactly neutral. Because of their sound they will either fit or fit not in one given application.

Quality wise I think these are very well made caps, and they're quite cheap, too. So I can only give you the advice to buy a few and have a listen.

hi Martin, thanks for sharing you thoughts, DAC is also one of assignments I have on my mind.

I will probably get some and give them a chance in my diy speaker crossovers and input of my solid state amp, I also dig 10uF ones (for aleph p coupling😀), but their size of small beer can is what still refuses me, especially because I need 10-14 of them😱 (now we are talking about some beer allready...)

any more thoughts on these interesting caps are welcome of course🙂

I used 1uF/500V PIO capacitors in my SRPP tube phono/line preamplifier, both in the output coupling and anode voltage bypassing. I replaced WIMA MKS-4 types for them. The PIOs sound more natural, I am absolutely satisfied. Very good value for the price. Check also the FT-3 teflon capacitors if you can tolerate the large size.
