I have a pair of ROYD A14 speakers in nice condition apart from the foam rings around the speaker cones which have perished and require replacement, is this an easy job or is there anyone who carries out this type of repair work?
I'll let you know. I am doing my first refoaming at the moment!

Falcon Acoustics may be able to advise someone who can repair or suggest a replacement driver.
I believe Royd have re-appeared on the web so may be able to offer replacements.

It's an easy job to replace foams. Check out the Youtube tutorials and make sure you get the correct foams with the correct compliance (they are often too stiff). I found that Speaker-Repairs are good, so may be worth asking them.
well my discovery yesterday was that, as I had feared isopropyl alcohol is hard to come by. This made removing the glue from the cone challenging. Ready for the start of the regluing.
Can't you get isopropyl alcohol at a pharmacy in the UK ?
At least here in Switzerland we can get the stuff at pharmacies. One of its uses is as a desinfectant after all.

I thought that. It used to be branded 'surgical spirit', so I bought some yesterday and its methyl alcohol. does not dissolve whatever infinity were using in 1990...
also easy to buy bottles that say 'ipa' on ebay...
I am peeved that I didn't check the bottle of surgical spirit, but the interwebs assured me is was IPA. phooey. will get the proper stuff for the paper cone I need to put a new surround on.

well fitted it. will post up pics tomorrow. Foam seems to be trickier than rubber. The instructions I read said to be sparing with the glue. Fine with rubber, but foam absorbs quite a bit of glue so you have to be generous to get it to stick, which explains the b****h of a job I had removing the old glue. The tip of running a low frequency through to centre the voice coil seems to work well. waiting for the glue to set overnight and will see how it looks. Worst case I have to reglue to the cone if it comes loose, so nothing lost.
next up will be a scanspeak 7" paper cone which should be a bit easier than the 12" infinity I just did.
I would still advise people to try to DIY. Worst thing that can happen is you have to take it off and start again!

If you buy from a reputable seller there is no issue. I've bought several bottles from Shiny Hardware.
Glad to read you recommend the job as DIY, I have some Control 1 woofers to re-foam.
