This forum has been very helpful in the past and this is my first time posting. So, thanks in advance.
I have a Rotel RTC-850 preamp tuner that I picked up recently on CL with matching amp. The components had been in storage for some time. The amp is good, but the preamp is a problem.
When I turn the preamp on, it gets power (28-29v to the filter caps). Output is only a hum with no music. If I play with the switches, the hum goes away... but still no music.
There is no display either. Only the red power light on the volume knob stays on. If I keep the tuner selector depressed, it does display and am even able to change stations. However, the tuner display goes away as soon as I let go.
I am no tech but have cleaned everything with deoxit twice. The caps 'look' good. The fuses are intact. Any ideas?
The real question is whether or not this is worth pursuing...
