I picked up a Rotel RP-900 (Planar 2 clone form late 90's) without the arm and platter and the subplatter spindle/assembly seems to fit a platter with a hole that measures almost 7/8" or 22 mm.
I noticed a newer P1 platter and it had a 3/4" or 19mm hole
Can anyone give me the lowdown on different versions' diameters.... I thought the Planar 2/3 & P1/2/3's were all the same spindle hole diameter?
I am trying to find a platter that will fit on the subplatter.
Does anyone know the history on this turntable as it was originally fitted witha RB-250 arm and glass platter?
Did they make it slightly different to ensure that parts are not interchangeable between the Rotel & Rega?
Any help would be appreciated.

Dont know if you got an answer but here goes. I dont know if they made different versions of the subplatter. But, the bearing well is a different size ID from the Rega meaning that the bearing shaft/axle also is. Meaning that the Rega subplatter wont work anyway. Aside from that, yes, the platter hole diameter is about 22 mm for the rotel and about 18mm for the Rega. I think Regas were always 18mm (or so) but dont know if the Rotel was made in different sizes.
I do believe that the Rotel RP900 was actually made by Systemdek or made for Rotel by the same company who made one of the later systemdek models X900 or I900 or something like that. A rare beast.
There is an ebay seller right now selling acrylic platters that he is listing for Rega tables. He sourced them from Rotel or so he claims. They have the 22mm diameter hole. I tried to help him by telling him they wouldnt work with the Rega subplatters but he wasnt a pleasant individual to talk with.

Yes, the Rotel does look very like the I/900 that Systemdek sold for a while, about the time the IIX/900 was current, and probably just before the introduction of their last model, the 2X2*. I imagine it's more "school of Rega" than Rega!
The Vinyl Engine doesn't seem to have any information about the I/900 in the Library, but there are a few images. There are no images in the page about the RP-900 or in the downloadable manual (except for a diagram of the RB-250). The "RP-900" that's shown in the Gallery looks like a completely different model!
I know at least one UK company, Isokinetik, makes acrylic platter replacements for Systemdeks. They offer them with both the earlier, larger centre hole and the smaller hole, about the size of a record spindle, for the final version of the IIX/900. The former (type B) would be the right one for this application, so it would be worth finding out from them what the internal diameter is, to see whether it would fit.

I should have mentioned that I own a Rotel RP900. BTW, there was an older model of the same name, that one has some infor and pictures at VE's library. Anyway, the modern RP900 is a very decent table. Problem I have is a very slight wobble (up/down) of the subplatter. It's speed and pitch stable but it bugs me. It isnt the bearing or bearing axle. I havent found a solution yet aside from replacing bearing well with a rega bearing well and using a Rega subplatter which would also mean I have to pick up a rega platter or figure out some type of insert to allow me to use the Rotel glass platter with the Rega subplatter. I would also need to make sure that the subplatters are the same diameter otherwise I need to replace the pulley. There is a little more work involved aside from parts too. Not ready to go down that road yet.
Trying to keep this a budget table. Would be great if I could just find another Rotel subplatter to try.

I had one of these a couple of years ago, and as you probably already know, they are not made by Rega, or share any of their parts.(except maybe the belt) There is currently a seller on ebay offering a Rega acrylic platter, which is reported to be sourced from Rotel for the RP-900. You can see from the pics that the center hole looks to be too large for the Rega. Looks to be pretty nice, plus they are brand new, and offered at a pretty good price (>$90)

Well, not many actually, as it isn't really a Rega clone at all. It might be a Systemdek I/920 clone, though the jury's still out on that one: the RP900 and the Systemdek could just have been sourced from the same parts. The I/920 is, after all, totally different from all other Systemdeks - no suspended sub-chassis, for one thing.
The one interchangeable part, and it's a big one, is the RB250 arm. There are commonly armless Rega decks for sale (the owners having transferred the arm to other decks), and this would make one of these into a working turntable.
