hello fellow HI-FI enthusiasts
after upgrading my rc-971 as per this guide --http://whatishifi.blogspot.com/2017/04/modifing-rotel-rc-970bx-and-op-amp-comparisons.html
i did not upgrade to a stepped attenuator, but did replace all of the power circuit caps.
in the signal path i used panasonic fc 25v 1000uf
would the attenuator make a noticeable difference ?
also in the future i intend to add a subwoofer output.
any suggestions are welcome
thanks for reading

ps couldnt upload schematic because "file to big" and cant take a screen shot on this computer. maybe the forum should have a repository ! i have some i could share.

There's not really much of a circuit in these things to tweak, so the opamps were probably the big one.
I'd probably consider changing the volume pot for something better quality, but I wouldn't go overboard... a modern conductive plastic pot would likely be my choice. Of course, if you want to go with getting an Alps "Blue Velvet" pot go for it 🙂

Hi Jaycee
Thanks for advise, maybe I will change the pot after all.
Hey PRR I hope your keeping well in these crazy times. My laptop gave up, I'm now using a raspberry pi , it cost me 150 quid and does "almost" everything I need, I'm sure I'll have the screen shop issue delt with soon .
Thank you both

The output to the subfuffer is two 1k / 1W resistors, one 100 ohm connected by a star. Shoulders go to the exits and to the ground. Center - RCA output for active subwoofer. By changing 100 ohms, you can select the desired signal level.
hi olddiy
what about the coil/inductor ? or are you using the opamp to filter the signal ?
i've been a member of the forum for a while but have limited experience.
please explain it a bit more.
nice one

I was talking about connecting an active subwoofer. The standard has its own amplifier, filters and regulators.
right-o
i wanted to add a subwoofer output that is already filtered. i have an old sub cross over that i can pillage for the parts i need or i could order some NE5532's and do it that way, but with the latter i then have the power supply problem. i will probably go for the easier option
