Hello,
I have a Rotel RC-1580 pre-amp with a dead transformer. Of course, it’s swathed in Rotel branded plastic, with no visible specifications, so the secondary voltage is unknown; I’ve emailed Rotel and scoured the internet, but have been unable to find a specification, nor a source for an original Rotel part.
Can anybody help in either respect? I need either the spec of the transformer so as to source a replacement, or a supplier of an original Rotel part.
Thanks very much!
L

Welcome back!
I couldn't find a service manual online, but maybe you'll have better luck. I did find a owner manual that indicated operating power is 15W, so that should help guide transformer size.
In an old thread, I captured a recommended transformer maker and saved the URL. The link below lists various voltage options in a 25W size, $13 USD at that time (Sept. 2024). They also have 10W and many other ratings. https://www.antekinc.com/content/AN-02XX.pdf
Maybe you can find other clues about operating voltage. How many wires are present in the secondary windings? In the worst case, you can count turns as you unwind the transformer. The turns ratio will tell you the nominal secondary voltages. You might even find a replacement for the internal thermal limiter.
Good luck!

BTW, be sure to troubleshoot the load on the secondary--- i.e. rectifiers, filter caps, and preamp itself. Presumably, something provoked transformer failure.
Thanks for your input! Yes, I’m mindful of something having caused the issue with the transformer. It’s actually someone else working on this one for me (I’ve too much on at the moment), and he tells me he’s checked it over as far as he can, without any power from the transformer.
We’ve contacted ROTEL who are yet to respond; hopefully they will in time, and when they do, I’ll post anything useful here.
