Hi all,
I have acquired a nice old Rotel RB-850 power amp.
Upon testing it I have noticed that the right channel is a lot quieter than the left.
There is no hiss or hum from the speakers, and everything sounds "fine", apart from the imbalance.
I have measured the DC offset at the speaker terminals after letting the amp settle for 10 minutes and each channel measures around 15mV.
Before I open it up and poke around inside, is there anything in particular I should look at? Is this a symptom of bad caps?
Thanks!

Check the switch - it needs to have 0 ohms resistance, maybe it's corroded or there's a build-up of contact resistance. The best is to bypass it/ bridge it out.
Thanks - I will check the switch and spray it with contact cleaner. Is this likely to be the cause?
Its the right channel that has the switch for bridge mode --S1 if that is faulty then as the above post bypass it to see if that makes any difference ----or not.
If the voltages are okay on the right channel =41.6 V +/-DC then before you start to investigate make sure the input signal is equal on both channels ( reverse the inputs to see if the left channel goes dimmer ) .
If all okay get back.

other than changing the bad caps,
cleaning the contact points of the switches, especially the speaker protection relay contacts might help.
