Hey Dave, your advice please. My listening room features one of the two corners where my speakers must be located that has a large pass thru to a large entry way. So, one leg of the 90 degree "wall" is only 9 inches deep..... ie. the opening to the entry way is parallel to the outer side of one of the speakers. So instead of a reflective surface, this speaker has an opening to another room instead of a wall beside it.
I'm currently using some vintage Legacy monitors on stands as satellites with an Outlaw LF 1 subwoofer, powered by IdealInnovations Elite 80 amp.
Despite this less than perfect room configuration (aren't they all?), with seat positioning, slight toe in on the speaker in the corner in question, etc. I've gotten a good sound presentation.
My intention is to transition eventually to an OTL amp. I'd like to go to a single driver horn speaker, the FrugelHorn MK3, for its sensitivity/efficiency for the power output characteristics of an OTL. If positioned all the way back in the potentially problematic corner, the driver will not have a near side reflective surface.
Do you think this room configuration rules out a horn design? I certainly would consider placement out from the corners with integration of my subwoofer if that would potentially be best.
I realize anticipating room effects can be dicey, but the need for corner placement is invariably in the discussion it seems with this type of speaker design.

Placement of FH3 can be quite different depending on the driver. Only FE126 really needs full corner loading to get ma bass, but with a reduction in extension works fine just against a wall.

Do have a suggestion for a driver for the FH3 other than the Fostex 126 that would pair nicely with a 4 watt per channel S.E. OTL amp? The "usual suspects" as found at the Frugel Horn.com website?
If the FE126En is specifically not to your taste, the FF125WK might be a consideration - while not quite as sensitive as the 126, it's still a decent enough performer.
OTOH, if you prefer ABAF, the "usual suspects" are known to work well in this enclosure include:
-Alpair 7.3,
-Mark Audio- CHR70.3, CHP70.3 , perhaps even the CHBW70 & small tweeter of your choice ( I just delivered a delightful little pair of surrounds based on Bob Reimer's kit for the CHBW70 & ERT26 to my daughter)
-TangBand; W5-1611, and several other models (I've only heard the 1611, and it's not quite for me, but thank goodness we don't all need to agree on everything 😉)
-no doubt I've missed dozens of suitable recommendations
You described the shape of room they'd be situated in, but what is approx size? A lot of folks have been quite happy with some of the drivers listed above, many of which have lower sensitivity specs than the FE126, while driving them with "flea power" amps, in the FH as well as none BLH designs - in modest sized rooms, and at less than concert level SPLs.
An interesting OT - has anyone else been bored enough on a long airline ride to play with the cheapie SPL or RTA apps on smart phone or tablet? I just returned from a 9 hr 2 leg flight from Bermuda, and you can only watch so many movies 🙄. Sitting in row 19 of Airbus A320 (right over the wing, and center seat probably 20ft from the engine) I measured in flight average of over 90DB, with more than 80% of the content below 800Hz. At one point while taxiing after landing, with engines throttled back to coasting idle, some accessory device spiked in at 1K- only 75dB on the RTA, and even though 3-5dB lower than the engine rumble, it pierced though it all and was incredibly irritating. Even without imbibing in the offered adult beverages, no wonder one deplanes with a throbbing headache - particularly if you've chosen to wear a noise cancelling 😉 headset to watch a 2 hr long effects laden movie. (Avengers on the in-flight system small screen was a hoot - to see all those computer graphics reduced to low resolution iPad sized screen and THX surround sound to less than the worst compressed MP3s I've ever heard - the directors must absolutely shudder just thinking about it. )

The room isn't huge: 14 feet wide, 25 feet long, speakers in one end facing the length of the room, listening positions at ~2/3 the length. Standard ceiling height. I appreciate the suggestions and thoughts.

well, actually 2 trips this year - after 40 years in the banking industry, my wife gets 5 weeks of paid vacation a year, and loves that traveling . Eleven days in the Caribbean on a cruise ship my waistline and arteries can definitely do without, but a week in Bermuda at the right time of year can be quite tolerable (once you get used to the traffic - they drive on the wrong side of the road and there are few sidewalks outside of downtown Hamilton, all of which keeps pedestrians on their toes. 😉)
and Victoria rarely gets all that White for long (shall we start bragging about New Year's Day golfing? 😀)
