Roland Cube 30 lineout mods.

I want to mod my Cube 30 so that I have a jack that gives me the line ot signal without killing the speaker so I can run the line out to a PA board and still use the amp as a monitor. Ideally, I still want the option of using the existing lineout as a headphone out the way it is now. Should I wire a separate jack in parallel without the speaker cutting feature wired in? Or a switch that simply puts the speaker back in the circuit when a jack is inserted into the existing line out? I am pretty good at soldering and assembling DIY stompboxes but weak on SS theory.

What you're looking for is called DI, you should take it from before the volume control, so adjusting your on-stage level doesn't affect the PA level (leave that to the sound engineer).

A convenient place to take it is the top of the volume control, it's also probably a good idea to make it a balanced output to feed in to the mixing desk.
