Now after having FTP connection to my UPL working I started to experiment with R&S app note 1GA43 tuner measurement package. Lucky me I had required options installed in my UPL. SML-01 generator I have specificaly acguired with stereo coder option B5 installed to be able to do tuner measurements.

After app note/instruction manual reading I transfered app note programs to UPL did needed configuration changes and "pressed RUN". Start up screen showed up and SML generator was configured over the GPIB bus. Whole complex system started without any problems. As test pig I used Yamaha tuner/amp what happened to be on the table.
Some very first example measurements. Must say that if you work with tuners this combination changes the game immediately.

In one of your previous posts I saw the SML on top of your UPL and I wondered if you were planning on testing tuners with them.
There is also another tuner testing process involving the use of a PC and the same UPL & SML instruments.
Its is described in: Application Note RAC-0502-0012.

Nice setup.
Question, I see from the distortion measurement graph -75db to -80db on y axis. Is that measurement floor? What is the stereo generator's lowest distortion? maybe 10x worst so it can be measured with confidence.
The Best (now discontunued/vintage) stereo gens claim 0.01% to be able to tackle super tuners with distortion <0.05%

I have not tested Application Note RAC-0502-0012 setup because I do not have NI GPIB interface and Visa drivers. Looking the app note features are about the same as with 1GA43 package. User interface would be easier with PC screen and PC capabilities.
Sorry to say I do not yet know exact system performance. Have to study SML-01 generator stereo coder spec. Measurements was just first try with new UPL-SML01 setup.

Does anyone have scanned UPL basic manual. I am most interested about the available "system commands".
