Hello, everyone!

I received this amp to repair, and wanted to know if I can replace the fet power, which are originally MTP45N06 and MTP75N05, (as seen in the photos) for about IRF3205, which are what I have in my closet.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. For virtually all Rockford amps that use the TO-220 case transistors, the 3205 with 47 ohm resistors are what I'd recommend. I think this amp has 10 ohm gate resistors. If none are defective, you can leave them. If any need to be replaced, replace all with 47 ohm resistors.

Thanks for responding, Perry

Yes, there were two burned, I've replaced those two, and two, by 3205, also resistors door, which were 10 ohms for a 47 ohm, then connected the amplifier, without connecting the remote has tripped the 20A fuse, I put a fuse of 40A, and has returned to burn the two 3205 on that side, originally, had also jumped.

There must be something more shabby .... Electrolytic capacitors are very swollen, I have taken and tested, and measured less than 1000 microfarads marking each, but that does not think it's reason to burn fet 's ...

What do you think, Perry,,?

Okay, I have, with the tips of negative test amplifier connected to ground and the positive to the gate of the circuit, the FET in the power supply, and gives me a measure of 6.60 volts and up ... ¿?

I have made the measurement also in the other two fet, the power supply are good, and as he gave me is still 4.53 volts.

The battery of my portable oscilloscope, was discharged, the'm loading, just in case it were necessary ...

Certainly, again you are right, Perry, Q2 was wrong, I substituted, I also installed a new 3205, and the amplifier works perfect!

Thanks again, Perry, for some time since I repaired an amplifier old school, and I almost forgot, how to repair them. 🙂
