Master musician George Duke passed this past Monday.
George Duke, Legendary Jazz Keyboardist, Dies : The Two-Way : NPR
I was excited to be seeing him and Stanley, yet again, in a few weeks.
I started my marathon an hour ago.
Great stuff.

Well, I just heard him for the first time and did a search... sad that there were no replies to this epitaph, so seven years later... cheers GD. The guy was a monster... here's what I stumbled on tonight... the stuff is just sick!

If ya like it look for George Duke, "After Hours" it off that CD. I love discovering hidden gems like this. 🙂

Finally, another kindred spirit.
Welcome to the club.
As you can tell, he left a nice legacy.
Enjoy!

I first learned about him as member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. But i've discovered the rest of his work also, and especially his jazz and fusion jazz is what i rate at least as high as his work with Zappa. So this is a big los for the music...
Thanks for reviving this thread, which caused me to discover this master! I'll be looking for lots more! Love it!
Ya, nobody replied to it and I had heard a song and did a search here, found out he had passed. The guy was awesome and I thought he deserved more... Also, I wanted to share, because it can be hard to find someone like this on the web.
