Hey everyone. I found a web store which has offered to sell me the Lilliput 619GL-70NP for $220. This is the correct model yes? Would anyone else be interested at this price? I think that any extra $20 is worth it to buy from a business rather than off e-bay 🙂

You can order direct from Lilliput at sales@lilliputweb.net for $239 or....
Order the Gray touch screen model at case-mod.com http://www.case-mod.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=109_110&products_id=922
and follow these directions: "Just checkout on our website. Go ahead and purchase the touch screen model and in the comments section mention that you want the 'non touch screen model'. Use coupon code: 619GL for $49.90 off the purchase price of the touch screen model."
I just ordered and it worked fine. $8 for shipping and CA sales tax for me. In my book it's still better than eBay. E-mail customer service so far has been positive.

I got mine today! I think they might have screwed up and sent me the touch screen version. oh well! I hooked it up to my computer and watched a couple minutes of video, looked pretty nice.

I had some e-mail communication with Case-Mod.com yesterday. They told me that the non touch screen version was a special order and they would have some in next week. They also said they would be adding the non touch screen version to their shopping cart in the next day or two.
The person responding was surprised that there was any interest in the non touch screen, so I sent them them some links to various Lilliput projector projects on this site and others. Perhaps they will see some potential for sales and become a local source of the panels for US builders. The panel is the last major piece I need for my projector. The screen was hung in the HT last night and I'm chomping at the bit to see some pictures on it.

Hey Doc-
They told me it was a special order as well but i think they screwed up on mine. Anyone want to by just the touch screen? 😉 I too told them there might be other interest.
I need to get going on lens and mirrors. I'm still not sure what to do about a light source. What are your plans?

projector plans - kinda long
Well, the assemblage of parts I came up with is kind of a mutt due to my keeping the first whack at this as cheap as possible. So I don't know how much it would help anyone else in their design.
Someone recommended lightingcloseout.com for a 400W MH bulb, socket and ballast package deal a while back. The price was great, about $80 shipped. The socket is great, the ballast seems relatively quiet with the judicious addition of some thru bolts to clamp the tack welded lam stack more tightly, and the bulb is bright, a little warm colored at 4200K and WAY BIG.
For starters my light engine is going to be this big fat (114mm dia.) bulb, a 98mm condenser from Electronic Goldmine, and the reflector is a 7X makeup mirror about 150mm in diameter. Between the condenser and the mirror I can generate a nice even bright spot just about the size of the Lilliput panel at just about the right FL for the Staples fresnel behind the panel (about 312mm). I have two of these fresnels stacked in series in front of the panel, to cut the focal length. That's because I found what I think may be a sleeper short throw lens for smaller panels. I'm using a 178mm f/2.5 Aero Ektar aerial camera lens. It was designed to cover a 5" x 5" negative, it's much brighter than a 260mm f/5.6 Fuji Xerox I have (yeah duh, it's 2+ f stops faster) and I calculate I can throw an easy 93"(2.3M) diagonal in my small (9.5' x 12', 2.9M x 3.6M) HT.
Before someone else points it out, yes, these old Aero Ektars do use thorium glass with some impurities whose radioactive decay makes the rear element a weak gamma ray emitter. It's been reported to be about as much exposure to handle one as it was to fly over the Atlantic in the Concorde. Anyway, you've been warned and I hereby absolve myself of liability. One more caveat, the rear element turns a little bit brown from 50 years exposure to the weak radiation. You can clear it up a bit by exposing the lens to sunlight or UV for a month or two.
I've been testing the rig on my lab bench with a 5.4" panel from my son's GameCube. Seems to be essentially the same as the PSone panel with a different controller. Neat to see what the inexpensive little panel can do. Mostly it has motivated me to get a higher res one, hence my quest for a Lilliput.
