Repurposing logitech x530

hi all,

After reading a lot on here i think I'm becoming more confused than i was when i started but really enjoying my little project.

Im building a boom-case for my fiancé she wants to use it as portable music at the wedding. I'm going very basic for my first project just pulling a logitech speaker set apart and am going to mount 6 of the drivers and the one sub into an old wooden suitcase utilising most of the existing wiring etc with a power and volume pot on the out side of the case.

The reason for posting in this section is the power supply currently is wall outlet which doesn't suit the purpose so i am looking for advice. i would like battery powered with a usb or similar charge port on the side near the volume switch. i will also power a bluetooth to RCA receiver to allow wireless playing from the battery.

My first question relates to the existing wiring there is a box (X5R) of some sort which i believe is a transformer from 240 to 125v (it leads direct to a 125v fuse) can i eliminate all this wiring and put in a 12v to 125v transformer or do i need to keep some or all of this wiring (the little grey box is the weight of the whole system in itself not ideal for portability) the outlay is in the photo attached.

All advise, criticism and suggestions are more than welcome. This is only my first project but am looking forward to many more with my own wiring and amp etc but for now this is cheap and easy because i have the parts.

Comments of battery selection and life will be well received to.

cheers,
chris

The unit works with DC current, as all the electronic devices.
After the transformer, which steps down voltage, you'll find 4 diodes arranged in a Graetz Bridge, which rectifies the current . You can insert your extra
power supply there -or even before the bridge but it would rectify an already direct current ! After rectification comes the smoothing capacitor....😱

Thanks for the speedy reply pico.

I've read the wiki on power supply and then the Graetz Bridge but i think I'm still not making the link from theory to practical.

I now understand that the silver box is indeed the transformer hence i can safely remove the circuit from the amp at the yellow wires.

My question now is this considering cost and my limited experience will it be best to

Install 12V battery -> transformer 12v-125v -> existing fuse and all wiring

Install 12v battery -> Graetz Bridge -> ?? seems like a more "proper" option but wandering if its out of my league also not really understanding how the bridge controls the voltage or is it irrelevant because it ensures the polarity is correct?

sorry for the noob questions and thanks for the patience
