Hi all
This is my first post and I’m new to diy hifi(always just bought it😂)
I’ve got some Rogers ls55 speakers that I like a lot but are looking tatty and they seem to be quite poorly built chipboard so I was thinking of having some new cabinets made (I’ve emailed wilmslow audio)
Or I could build some myself what’s the best route to take what material to use etc will it improve the sound etc or should I just buy new speakers🤣😂🤣😂
Any help would be great fully appreciated
Cheers
Scott
Ps my dad loves a bit of woodwork and has a garage full of tools table saw etc

Building your own can be fun, I have been doing it for 40 years !
I tend to use 18mm plywood.
Its thick enough to work well even with big speakers but still light enough to move around.
A forgiving sealed box is just 18mm plywood braced with 2by2 and covered in a vinyl or thin carpet. Veneered surface is another way to go but isnt quite so forgiving.
My last build was a W bin which took quite a bit of effort to work out mating angles.
Also, because i wanted to glue it the sides had to be al exactly same width so as not to leave any gaps.
Have fun....
