Replacement speakers for Nissan Maxima, 6x9

I'd also like to replace the rear speakers on my 92 Nissan Maxima. A car audio store said they're a special, Bose 4 Ohm speaker, that no one would carry them except the dealer, that the dealer would charge $250 a pair, etc. etc. Was he right, or did he just not want my $$$$ ? Any suggestions for replacements? I have just the original Bose AM/FM/tape player.

if the bose speakers are 4 ohm's than any speaker for the car should work... mounting the speaker is a whole another animal... the guy in the car audio store was probably right about the cost for the bose from the dealer, and yes the dealer is the only place you could get bose factory speakers new.

i suggest getting some desent pioneer or alpine 5.25" or 6.5" coaxials and having the stereo guy install them with the factory grill so it will look stock. if the stereo guy cant do it, its time to look elsewhere for audio installs... thats my opinion, good luck...

oh, i almost for got, you should beable to replace the stock deck as well, your car is only a '92 so you shouldn't have any problem getting an after market deck installed and wired to your speakers, it all depends on how much you want to spend...

If you plop in any speaker it won't sound the same as the designers had intended. The EQ and other filtering techniques were suited for the original Bose speaker.

You CAN change the deck in your Maxima, ante up to the scosche website and search for installation parts required.

If you want to replace the speaker with a working speaker (Still Bose) then you may want to search ebay or a junkyard.
