Replacement Fresnel for HP-A305 Solar Deluxe

Where can I get one? I saw a couple sites that have replacement lenses for other Elmo Models and other OHPs, but not for the HP-A305 SD. How much can I expect to pay if I order one right from Elmo? Will any of the 2 fresnels from DIY Labs fit the HP-A305 SD? I have a couple of scratches on my fresnel which are bugging the hell out of me and I've already unsuccesfully tried to remove them. So wherever I order it from, it needs to be completely scratch-free!

How have you tried to remove them? I have successfully used a dremel tool with a buffer head and jewlers rouge...( very light delicate touches...tiny bit at a time) This also works for scratched CD's (never had to try it on a DVD yet).

i see that it comes in different colors and grits... what one do i want?

is there a name or # for the dremel tip that i want?

here is a page that has the different tips... also would the #421 compound on the right of the page be the rouge i'm looking for? 🙂 thanks!

If it doesn't work, here's the place to get a replacement. I recieved this email when I asked Elmo the same thing:

Please call the service dept. to get that lens on order.

zardoz - that method is no good for plastic fresnels. tried it, didn't like the results. although it kind of smoothed out the scratches, you can now see where the felt tip was polishing the surface. i went as lightly as possible.

Too much speed causes heat, heat melts plastic. Polishing compound is a super fine abbrassive, just like using "colour back" on a car (rubbing out a scratch) Put it on and work it with a high speed grinder running a buffer disc and you will lift the paint right off the car. Jewlers rouge needs more speed than you could achieve by hand but by no means the top RPM a dremel can delliver.
Drop your speed big time..keep the buffer "wet" looking with rouge and touch it up. You can cut the rouge with a tiny bit of water also.
