I would like to replace some factory caps Panasonic HF series 470mf. 35v. 105 degree rating and also, some 1000mf. 25v. same type caps due to age. Any suggestions of some equal or a little better quality caps would be greatly appreciated. I tried asking this question on an electronics forum and was ridiculed and disrespected, treated like a fool just because I wanted to replace these 25 year old caps which have to endure quite a bit of heat around them just, because the preamp is still working. Thanks! 🙂

Adcom GFP565 is a wonderful preamp -- Gary Galo hotted his up in an article for AudioXpress in November 2003. One of the best things you can do for this pre is replace the power transformer as the existing unit is pretty wimpy. You can also use the new Jung regulator boards which the DIY Audio Store is offering. Both of these changes require outboarding the power supply. Galo also changed out the rectifiers for HexFred diodes. The amplifier was pretty good to begin with, but the changes make it much quieter:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Thanks for the great info, I'll do some reading on that. 🙂
