Greetings.
I was send to repair the Onkyo HT - R960 as it was having a noise problem.
I listened to the front speakers and at turn on there was loud digital, DSP like crackling which got better after 3 min or so. Then, later on i could listen to music normally for about 5 minutes and it started again.
I was looking at the dsp chip and the components around it and as stupid as i am, i made a short along two jumpers on the amplifier board. I later determined one of the driver transistors had blown and the others were ok. The driver is 2SA1930.
My first question is, can i replace the 2SA1930 with 2SA968? I have it avaliable in a store nearby.
My second question would be if any of you had the simmilar issue i have with this receiver, where did you look ?

Not the same spec, so no.
You'll undoubedtly find you've also took out some low value resistors nearby, further upstream, and potentially some other small(er) signal devices.
Which could be the replacement then?
A 2SA1930 😉
If you really can't find a 1930, then google will provide suitable alternatives.
