Rega Planet 2000 cd player
Hi everyone, so on this fateful day I managed to break the connector
that connect the laser unit motherboard to the mainboard by pulling
too hard trying to release the ribbon cable. I knew I am in big time trouble instantly when I saw that thing broken. I hope
whatever soldering skill I learned can help for the repair.
So now my job is to look for a replacement for that connector. I've googled
many places but can't find anything like it. 23 pins, 1mm pitch, female.
I know this is a very old unit manufactured in the late nineties but if anyone
knows the source of this connector please let me know I'll be whole heartly
thankful for that..

It might help if you could attach a few high res pics of the connector as seen from different angles. Could be someone will recognize it.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I've enclosed a picture for the connector I was talking about. It is a 23 pins type that I could not find anywhere. But I think I can use the 24 pins to get the job done. The 24 pins surface mount connectors are available in many places.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Can't you gently shove the pins back in?
I would check with Mouser and Digikey for a replacement connector. It'll be tough to find an exact match, but maybe you can find one that's close enough to work. It helps a lot if you know the manufacturer of the connector.

I think mouser part no 538-52852-2370 is probably what you need, or something equivalent (check your connector's footprint! - there are also zif versions available). However, as tomchr suggested, I would try first to put those pins genty back into place, it will probably work.
