Good day to all of you in the forum,
I have to replace the preamplifier in my HI FI system that has home built around 20 years ago.
I am looking to a simple wiring solution since I am no so young !
I have seen the LM1036 and the LM4610 solutions: my question is:
> do those integrate circuit direct me towards a real HI FI solution ?
> Or shall I stay with a low noise op amps solution as I did times ago ?
Thanks for any suggestion.

Ambrogio

I recall the LM1036 from the 80's (I did apps support for National). It was primarily meant to be used in car audio, boom boxes, and such. I wouldn't consider it "hi-fi". It was meant to provide a low cost volume from a single supply, with loudness comp. It was also sorta neat since the volume was controlled by a DC level, so that wiper noise wouldnt be heard. What is your current preamp based on? Discrete or opamp based?
