recommended BSC for FE167E 15L BR?

For what it's worth, I use 1.5-1.5mH Erse Super Q's and 6 ohms in my ML-TL's. The cabinet width is 10 1/2".

I use the lowest DCR inductors I can get, within reason, because my speakers are designed for low power tube amps where sensitivity is very important. If you are using a SS amp, DCR is no big deal, but you might want to recalculate the driver effective Qts. 18ga air cores sould be alright.

Are you using the Fostex recommended BR? My take is that this should be a great speaker for HT when assigned as "small". I don't think they are going to be very good for music unless they are high passed at 100Hz or so and paired with stereo subs.

I like a 24 liter BR for the FE167E. This will give you decent bass and the possibility of crossing to a sub at around 60Hz and making a single sub reasonable.

Inductor DCR and cabinet size are mutually exclusive. Choose your inductor DCR based on the amp you will use. BTW, if you are using SS, you might consider a higher DCR. A couple of ohms of series resistance is usually a good idea with SS amps/full-range drivers.

OK. I'm using 1.8mH inductors right now because PE can't seem to stock the 1.5 mH Erse Super Q. However, if you don't like the sound of 1.5mH, by all means try something else. I just think that 3mH brings the treble cut in too soon.

I am using 1,8 mH and 8 ohm with mine ss amp mission cyrus 2
in a ml tl like the latest version from Bob the PT 1600 mkII
and they sound extreemly wonderfull
after burning in for a long period...
they do not sound harsh anymore ...
i do not need a sub and tweeters !!!!
 
I'm using an FE164 which is of course different but managed to do without a BSC on a 25L BR box with excellent results.

Since you don't have a box built at this point I would suggest you simulate with Winsid using a somewhat bigger enclosure, say 20L or so, playing also with a series resistance for a higher Qts. The program is easy to use and is freeware so far. Just make sure you dont exeed Xmax.

For FE164 the Fostex suggested BR did not sound to well so a sim could be in order for your driver.
