Just out of interest does a labour only charge of GBP 90 per hour for servicing a cd player sound reasonable to anyone ? If so can you please explain how such a charge is justified . Ok i get the cost and time involved in
" learning the trade " but that seems extortionate to me ....

That's about what good car mechanics and plumbers charge. Not unreasonable if you factor in overhead costs, government fees, insurance... The repair guy will be lucky to net fifty percent of that.

The guys at Senso in Truro, quoted me £80 / hr, which I thought was reasonable considering I got a quote of £65 / hr back in the mid 90's.
Senso have moved from Lemon St. to the main street next door (to the left) to Co-Op.
Fair enough then i guess the fact that the quote was from a major manufacturer's servicing dept makes it a bargain then 🙂 Having said that there's probably people on the site who could build one from scratch for less 🙂

That is cheap, Cyrus want £175 just to open a case, the gitiods even billed me for re-packing my amp back into it's factory packaging (which is what it was sent in)..... £5 and something for 2 bits of packing tape.
That takes the mick a bit ... the company i contacted was Musical Fidelity regarding a X Ray cd player i picked up recently . They do a complete rebuild using higher quality parts than the production units for GBP 500 which is starting to look quite reasonable . However i came across lots of positive comments about a company called JSaudio whilst doing my research . The owner is ex MF so i've emailed for some quotes before making a decision .
