Ready to start up new amp and need some help to be sure everything is OK photos and schematics

Hi,

I need some help to wire the cliff jacks for the foot switch and the input jack. I have checked all the component values. I don't have the three position switch but it should arrive Friday.

The foot switch jack is wired but I don't know if it is correct. Is my hand drawned schematic correct for the input jack?

Just yell if you need more info.

Thanks

Billy

Hi,
I will check it out when the switch gets here on Friday.

Here is a single input Cleff jack wiring diagram. I am still a little confused about the Cliff jack. I see I had the switch wiring reversed.

Is this diagram correct?

Thanks,

Billy

Thanks again. I got it now. At least this part...lol

I will trace everything out to be sure as I can that everything is in place correctly. As there were no resister values on the layout diagram I had a little trouble matching up the schematic and layout in a couple of places. I have most of it cross referenced with the values on the schematic and the color code on the layout.

I have not done any electronics projects in several years so I have a bit of a relearning curve to deal with.

LOL...don't ever get old!

Cheers,

Billy

Hi,
Yes, they are speaker output jacks. They go to ground when nothing is connected and complete the circuit through the speaker when connected.

The amp can not be operated without a working speaker connected. So, I do not understand what condition could provide no-load protection. If the amp is operated without a load, meaning the speaker, it will be damaged or worse.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Billy

Hi,
I will do some testing, but the amp is playing without issue now.
I got all the other switching issues solved. The three-position switch that finally arrived is of pretty poor quality. It works, but I will change it at some point.

I had issues with the tremolo circuit but finally found the bad cap that was causing the issue.

Everything seems to be working fine at the moment. The power tubes are running at 20 ma which puts the bias at only about 65% basses on 12 watts for EL84 JJ tubes and plate voltage at 346VDC. Having said that the amp sounds good so perhaps don't fix what is not broken...lol I assume that is just bearly out of crossover distortion.

At any rate, thank you very much for all the help.

Billy
