There is a company in Jackson heights, NY that sells ready-made strap-on plastic projectors for regular 13" and 15" TV's for $169
and low-grade LCD projectors for $490
Check'em out here @: http://www.selectdimension.com
Anyone have any experience with their plastic Strap-on projectors?
Also, I'm not exactly as technically savvy as most of you guys here so my other question is: how many lumens does a standard 13" TV put out? Would this strap-on projector even be a viable option or should I just stick with my OHP LCD plan?
Thoughts?

Those things don’t work very good. You will be much better off with ohp lcd projector. I can’t tell you the exact lumens of a TV but those pictures they show you of their results are grossly over optimistic. The TV’s are not bright enough to make a good image. Also you can build your own for like $10 with some card board and a fresnel lens so there is no reason to pay $169 for a plastic one.
Yeah Ninja, I tried that whole Ebay 100" TV thing. It did'nt work out because the lense is pretty weak. I was thinking that the strap-on would be better by design but I figured that sense TV's give off a low amount of light compared to an OHP that it may not be good, but I wanted to make sure what the lumen count for the average 13" TV was.
Check out my other thread and tell me what you think about the possibility of my setup. I'm weary about going lower than 4,000 Lumens for my OHP LCD projector, but if someone with more experience can tell me if it will really be a big difference between 3000 and 4000 Lumens in dark room to play video games and watch movies and TV, then it will help my hunting a lot.

on topic...i've made one of those Tv projector things and it sucked BADLY but IMO not because of the lumen but bad optics...it CAN be done but it wont be close to LCD projection,VM has done one with a delta lens and said it was nice...
OMG! Find the tread "is this some kind of joke". We had a whole thread for bashing those people 😀. They have very porr customer service . lol This guy cannot type an email witho out useing odd made up words 🙁.
100" Crap
Poor N.D. dOOd.
Send for a fresnel lens, cut some cardboard, get fantastic display!
That suckered me in. I was so disappointed but so determined to realize my dream that instead of giving up, I spent countless hours reading these threads, took some risks, ponied up some money, and ended up with a projector that almost satisfys me.
How many of us ended up in here because of that first disappointment?
Come on new fresnel with the 9" fl.

yeah, like most other suckers, I got conned into buying the "100" television projection with stunning results crud. Although, for only £5 or so, I would like to say that I am glad I bought it cause it gave me the determination as well to actually go out and buy some OHP, lcd equipment. that's £5 not wasted, thats for sure.
I just bought a Polaroid Polaview 3000, not the best in the world by all means, but I just wanted to try it firstly, and if I love the idea of the big screen, I'll buy a sharp qa-2500 off ebay. Hey, I'm a student, and don't drink(not to get drunk anyway) so I have to spend my student loan on something, right?
One question. Is it a good idea to build a surround around your OHP and lcd projection panel(out of wood and paint the insides black?), like you do with the tv projection route or is it not worth the effort. I just thought that it might give out a bigger light output. Any ideas anyone?

Yes. Your image will be less washed out from excess light. Pain the inside of the case black though so the image is not reflected and distorted.
