Hello, what I'm trying to do is use the RCA sub output on my aftermarket 12v receiver and hook it to my factory amp so I can retain the factory sub but the factory amp uses speaker wire type inputs not RCA type. Would I be able to just make my own "RCA to speake wire" cable and send the signal that way?? Will this even work?? Basically like a Hi to Lo line output converter except this will be Lo to HI instead. Please let me know your suggestions or experience.
look at the specification for the two units.
It should tell you the output and the recommended load impedance for the receiver and the sensitivity and input impedance of the bass amplifier.
Compare the voltage specifications.

Well, It's just a factory amp and I can't find any info on it. Has anyone actually ever tried anything like this before? And did it work?
No it won't work. The high level input has a resistance circuit to tame the high level feed and bring it back down to a reasonable level. The RCA output will be far too low.
many years ago somone claimed that the high level speaker signal powering a subamp worked better than RCA low level signal connect
the claim was something about better sub coherence with main speakers
so, it shouldn't be a problem to connect your sub through speaker signal
now, your issue may be that EQ etc from your surround amp will have no effect

Cal is on the nose! When using speaker level inputs on a device to get a usable internal line level, there has to be a pad to attinuate the speaker level input (and match the impedance) to be useable at the internal line level stage. You would be gong the wrong way, taking a line level signal and then feeding a speaker level input. This would just attenuate the signal waaaayyy to much.

I have used it successfully in the past because I wished to use the high levels out so I had no choice. Didn't really notice a difference except on the gain control.
