Randall Amp problems

I just bought this used Randall RG100SC combo amp: 2 12" celestions, 100 W solid state, two gain stages (gain 2 w/ contour), over 5yrs old - and during our first rehearsal with it, it decided to poop out after an hour or so of jammin. It seemed that only the second gain stage was experiencing this nasty sound when driven. Gain 1 and Clean were still nice.

Then after a night's rest, I tried the amp again and it sounded better - which is odd. Even more odd is the fact that i noticed a capactior rolling around inside the amp head. Once I re-soldered it to the PCB, in the Gain 2 section where the problem existed, I though everything would be fine. Well it was.... sort of. No more completely pooping out - but I now notice a very present crackle and thud-type sound when playing the low e and dropped d string. This time though, I notice the crackle on the first Gain stage as well. The clean channel is still fine.

So...... how should i go about troubleshooting this? Could I use the line out or effects send to throw the signal to another amp, or possibly the external speaker jacks? Maybe I should double check the solder joints? Where the hell does this problem start? AHHH!

BTW, this amp is used and was recently shipped to me from one state over. It was packaged well, but might have gotten tossed a bit.

Any advice appreciated,

Andy
