I've purchased some grill clips and wondering how to go about mounting them to ensure both the male and female clips line up. It's easy to fit one but what about 4?
Also it is preferable to finish the baffle (eg. lacquer, oil, paint) before or after drilling out the holes for the female clip?
thanks all,
T.

Drive some of small diameter nails length into the positions.
Cut the heads off and offer up the grille in position and drive flush.
Remove grill and the nails. Use the markings for drilling.
Definitely after IMO. Finish then fit the clips.

Or if you want to get fancy, pick up a dowel kit. They are quite inexpensive and help to line-up holes for wood dowels, but there's no reason they wouldn't work for your purpose.

sreten,
perhaps my english or woodworking is rudimentary so i cannot quite picture what you mean.
on the grill or on the baffle?
I'm sorry i don't quite understand "offer up"? And what is it that i will "drive flush"
thanks.

There are two ways of doing it as you have two parts.
The nails have to be party set into one part, and cut so they
protrude and then the two parts need to forced together
whilst aligned to have matching indentations in all the pieces,
after the nails are removed.
