Good Day All, I have questions that I did not get my answer to using search. I got an Interfire amp that uses HFP50N06 as the power supply transistors in which one expired prematurely. There was also a TIP35 and TIP36 that were bad in the output section. I replaced the TIPs as they are available locally and I removed the blown HFP50N06 and the amp plays fine. I have used it lightly in this state with the missing transistor for about a week with no problems. I don't fully understand what that unbalanced setup would do/not do under a hard load so I never stressed the amp to find out the hard way. The power supply had 12(now 11) transistors separated into groups of 3, so in one group, I only have 2 carrying the same load. So now to my two questions:
1) What would happen if I use it normally in this condition with the missing HFP50N06?
2) Can I replace only one group, or two groups, of power supply transistors and allow them to work along with two, or three, groups of HFP50N06? With something like IRFZ44 or IRF3205 that I normally get locally but just hoping that I don't necessarily have to replace all 12 as the amp is working reliably right now.
If I can get away replacing the two HFP50N06 with three IRFZ44 and they will work just fine with the nine HFP50N06 in the other groups that would be great. I know what I should do and just replace all of them to be reliable but just trying to send that $$ elsewhere right now...
If there are any other more suitable replacements that may be more easily available and are more common then please let me know those also, thanks.

If there are 2 supplies, each with two banks of 3 FETs, you can replace only 3 but I'd suggest replacing at least 6. If this was an amp I had in for repair, I'd replace all 12. I don't know what the parts cost you but here, they're only about $0.50 each so cost isn't a factor.
The Z44 should be a drop-in replacement. The 3205s may require a change to the drive circuit.
Operating with a missing FET will make the amp more likely to fail if driven hard.
