UPDATE - All boards have been requested. If anything changes, I will post here. No need to start a waiting list.

I needed a Quasimodo, since I haven't had my bell rung in quite some time. I thought building and testing 10 was only a bit more effort than 1. Plus, I know I had seen a few posts that people may need/want one.

You can read all about what it is, and what it does here.

I built 4 'versions' for no particular reason. I have -

2x - Red LED with semi-covered V+ GND and Scope attachment pins. Lower right in the photo
1x - Clear LED with non-covered V+ GND and Scope attachment pins. Lower left in the photo
2x - Red LED with no V+ GND and Scope attachment pins. You can use whatever you choose.
4x 2X - Clear LED with no V+ GND and Scope attachment pins. You can use whatever you choose.

First-come, first-served if you have a preference for a 'version.'

The bill of materials I used is below. All parts except those specifically noted as spare parts were noted as acceptable for use in the BoMs kindly provided by @Mark Johnson.

The solder I used contains lead.

The builds were finished and tested on 21-Jul 2023. Each was tested using two similar transformers; Antek AS-4225 and Antek AS-0518.

I checked my costs for boards and parts shipped to me along with the cost for a nice beer and rounded down.

They're addictive to use... have fun...

Fine Print - There is high probability that UPS shipments will be affected by a workers' strike. I cannot control shipping times. I am also busy. I will commit to getting your package to the shipper within one calendar week of receiving payment. If you beg and plead and make a case for why you MUST have yours rushed... I'll do my best. You pick the method between UPS, USPS, and FedEx. I will not look up shipping rates for you. For international shipments, the proper customs code will be used, and I will declare the value at $30USD and insure for the same. I will not declare it as a 'gift', please don't ask. PayPal only. F&F is permitted for those that know me, but I'll cover fees (up to $2USD) for those that prefer goods and services payments for our mutual protection until we're friends or family. Please do not put 'PM sent' in this thread to notify me or others that you've sent me a PM. I'll know, and no one else likely cares. 🙂

Enjoy the tunes.... Patrick

Edited to add - For those that want to estimate their shipping... I haven't selected proper packing materials yet, but I think it would be safe to estimate that I can properly pack things into a box of around 4.5" x 3.5" x 3.5". Weight should be under 0.5lbs. Shipping from US Zip 55372. That ought to get you close...

@Mark Johnson - Thank you for the kind words. Your paper on the Quasimodo's background, purpose, and use, is marvelous. I should get many years of fun (and good data) from it.

Hi All -

@wg45 and @ggetzoff - I'll send you a PM to get things moving.

Suggestions are welcome. Swaps and GBs always seem more tedious than they probably need to be.

I hope everyone that wants one gets one.

To let me know if you'd like one, post here and/or send me a PM, but not both, please.

🙂

Post 1 updated with what is currently available.

Also... re: pins. Whether the board I'm sending you currently has pins or not, I offer the following...

If you read Mark's exceptional notes, he states on page 12 how to achieve "wonderfully clean and stable" traces with a two channel scope.

He also put an extremely helpful picture in the thread, which I've copied below. Note - this is an SMD board.

I found this to be EXTREMELY valuable information, which I put into practice. At no additional charge, and with a smile on my face, I will put a header pin onto your board upon request for this purpose. Let me know via the "conversation" we're already having, if you've already been assigned a board. If you'd like one of the two remaining boards, and if you'd like a pin added, just let me know with your inquiry.

I'm thrilled people will be using these. It really is fun! Seriously. I'm not terribly savvy in the ways of the oscilloscope... but I'm learning. That's why it's taken me 3 years to build and use one of these. With that said, using a vintage scope and learning how to set it properly to see the wiggles made me giggle... really. Yes, I'm a dork.
