My room is only 5.2m by 3.7m. Will Quad ESL 57 work good in this room?
Should I position then on the short wall or the long wall?

I think that's about 17 by 12 feet, which is nearly the same exact size of the room I'm in now. I don't see why a pair of ESL 57's would be a problem. As for positioning in your room, I can't see it, so it's difficult to say. And even if I could, any suggestions would only be assumptions and guesses, going only from what I've experienced. In a rectangular room, I usually always try to have them on the short wall, if at all possible. I realize that this is probably not always the optimum arrangement, but I'm usually in smallish rooms, and it's just what I usually prefer.
I have nearly the same size room (5.20 x 3.50 m) and my ESLs are on the long wall:

I know it is not ideal to put them so close to the wall, but... My experience is they sound best if the distance between their center is 2.5 to 3 m and the listener is at the third corner of an equal side triangle.

That's pretty close to an ideal size for Quads. Rooms are tricky things, so try it both ways, but my first guess would be "long wall." Quads can be listened to fairly close up.
