Last night I tried two pulse transformers in my dac
The original one in the dac was a SUMLINK ST-DU709 and I replaced it by a NEWAVA S22083 that goes to a CS8416.
Physically, the sumlink appears to be a copy of the Newava. Same casing, same dimension. The only difference is that the legs of the Newava are marked 2-1 instead of being 1-2 same for 4-3 instead of 3-4.
If physically, they are the same, the sound is way different between these two transformers.
The Newava S22083 gives mellower sound. Soundstage is better. The sound is what I call more relax. I am really surprized by this difference.
Question:
As the pin one on the transformer has a white dot to show the pin signal (in) on the primary, Is there a difference if I use the other primary pin (2 normally grounded ) with the signal coming from the BNC plug ? The (1) would be grounded instead of the (2)
Thanks
