Hi I have a playstation 1 with rear audio so took it apart because it wasn't playing CDs. And found a black plastic part sitting on top of the metal cage that covers the board. I took a photo of this. Once I took the cage off the board it looked like there was something blown as there was a lot of wite powder. I cleaned and took a photo. Can anyone tell me if I can fix this. When I put a disc into the ps and close there's no spinning or noises, just a green light on the psu.

There was an old picture. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/atta...774d1206361464-playstation-cd-player-100x.jpg The blown cap is a Panasonic 22uF 6.3V ELECT cap. Just google "how to clean and repair a motherboard with blown cap" Good luck.
those Aluminum SMD capacitors can be really tough to remove with a regular old soldering iron, especially when they're on the ground plane like that. You may need something with a little more oomph like a hot-air wand or SMD rework station. If you have access to a Metcal or other industrial-grade soldering iron, that might work as well.
Be sure to use lots of flux, and add in some leaded solder if you have trouble getting the joints to flow. More than anything else, just be patient. Also you should clean the white residue off of the board before trying to power it on again once you replace the cap. Use 99% Isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs.
Let us know how it goes!
