Hi folks,
I've just bought a Proxima Ovation 820 from eBay. It was sold as untested (which I am beginning to realise means 'doesn't work properly') so I can't really complain, but I'd like to know if anyone else has seen this problem.
Basically the panel fires up and displays the Proxima welcome message. After a few seconds the two green 'freeze' and 'shift' LEDs start flashing alternatly (indicating an error possibly?). From this point none of the buttons on the panel do anything and the remote has no effect. Plugging VGA and video sources in has no effect either.
I have tried the obvious things such as new batteries in the remote and opening up the panel to make sure no ribbon cables or connectors have come loose.
Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

My 822c did the exact same thing the first time I plugged it up. It was also "untested".
Anyway, I just plugged in a video source in the S-video port, switched the unit off and on, and it worked.
Haven't had a problem since then.

Flay,
Many thanks! This worked for the s-vhs signal. Still can't get the VGA working though. I'm using a Mac cable with a conveter on, so that may be an issue.
Thanks again 🙂

Re: re: proxima panel frozen
Yes, it was because I was using a MAC cable with a converter. I got hold of a proper VGA cable and it worked fine.
