Hi All
In a recent eBay purchase I have acquired project genie, I believe it is a 2.... All I have is what's shown in the picture, base, platter and arm.... It's the start of a project, from looking at eBay at spares (after my purchase) it seems rather dawning the expense of spares, this is only to get it up and running, the first major problem to tackle is the motor.... Unfortunately it did not come with original or mounting plate.... Has anyone come across this problem, and tackled it with some DIY, £160 is a bit steep for the motor and mdf board for it to sit on, does anyone have a genie and be kind enough to photograph this part adjacent to tape measure, which I can use as a starting point to house a motor, which I seem to be able to source at for £60, which leaves extra funding to splash out on a better quality stylus..... Any ideas and comments are appreciated, I'm now going to search around to see if I can find any answers for myself.....
Thanks
John

sorry to say but i think you have just waisted your money. from what i can see the bias assembly is also missing from the arm.
it's not just a case of plonking another motor in as the motor will need a pulley specific to the diameter of the platter.
you could try phoning richer sounds and see if they can help.
you need motor pod + power supply, belt and arm bias assembly.

There is no motor and no drive belt. And I don't see the weight for the compensation of skating.
Nevertheless, http://www.henleydesigns.co.uk will sell all the Project Genie 1.2 parts yoy need (including "electronincs"). And if they haven't the whole motor in stock, yoy find the "electronics" with the link Exploring Vinyl Audio: DIY turntable

I have this turntable at home.
It's the Pro-Ject Genie RPM 1.3 -> Pro-Ject-Shop: Plattenspieler Pro-Ject RPM1.3 Genie
On the shop-hp of Project you find only a motor for 78rpm...probably you can work with it.
Another way can be you find an Pro-Ject "Elemental"
It's the simplest design of Pro-Ject and the motor is the same as on the genie 1.3...
The tonearm and all the other stuff is a bit poor designed. The genie 1.3 is a really good turntable! I don't know how good you are in electronics. You can choose a motor from an electronics-market and try to realize the whole stuff on your own. If you need some data about the pulley I can measure it...
