I have alot of builds planned right now that range from speakers to amps and to this...a turntable. Out of all of them this one is the one that is coming first because I have several motors that I can pull from my old r/c cars that I built for fun when i was younger.
the motor that I pulled first to try and use is this:

It is sensored so I believe that I have to use the included speed control to insure proper operation. I am going to see if I can figure a way to control the speed in a manner that has presets with fine tunning.
It is a brushless motor and has a maximum of 5000rpm. ALOT more that what is really needed for driving a platter. I hope it has enough to drive a heavy platter at the right speeds. 33.33 and 45 are the only speeds that are my targets for now. I just hope this motor doesnt make too much noise. I have 2 other motors that I can try out as well but because of this one being brushless it is the first one I want to try.
The type of TT that I am planning is an idler drive with the drive will running under the platter like a lenco.
The motor will be mounted in a sub chassis and connect to a drive shaft that turns the idler wheel by a belt.
I was originally thinking that the sub chassis could simply slide in the bottom and not have any connection at all to the main plinth. however, I think this would be too difficult in the situation where the belt may need to be replaced. However, I did like the ide of having them exposed on one side of the table for a little "flare"
I also plan that this will be a rather large turntable with the approach of making it so hefty that there are no chances for vibration.
