For those of you with some experience with Spectra C's and/or lcd panels. I'm experiencing a "washout" of color near the top edge of my panel. It's intermittent, and only occurs across the top 1/5th or so of the lcd. My remote doesn't function (the light on the main panel blinks when I point it at it and press a button, but it has no effect). If I were to get the remote to work, is there something in the setup menu that would help with my problem? Or is there something wrong with the color portion of my panel? (Black and white movies are just fine with no shading or disruption of the picture). It does't appear to be during "fast" action scenes or anything, strictly random. Any ideas? Thanks for your help. 🙂
hummmm
What happens when you push the reset , the button on the very top left?
You say it is only when multi colors are shown. is it always (also after one hour of show, and is it with different sources like dvd, vcr or cable and do you have 'cheesebox or vga theater tv3000 box in between?
Have you tried the vertical and horizontal alignement settings?
what happens then.......
oops a lot of questions but all elementary mon cher watson!

I'm at the fire station today, so I'm away from my panel. Is this reset button on the panel itself or on the remote? (I can't recall there being a reset button on the panel itself) Is there a way to see if the signal is getting from the remote to the panel (other than the light blinking)?
My current setup is VCR through TV3000 to the Spectra C. It only happens on color (black and white movies are fine) and does not seem to be a hot or cold problem. I've tried different VCR tapes and have tried adjusting the tracking with no differences. Without a working remote, I'm unable to access the panels settings and adjustments. (At least I don't know a different way, there are no buttons on the panel itself) An additional thought came to me last night, but haven't had a chance to check it....since it only occurs at the "top" of my screen, could it be caused by electronic interfence from the fan motor? They are both on the same end of the OHP when I have my panel on. (I'll have to flip the panel around and see if the "problem" relocates to a different portion of the panel). I know that magnets can effect lcd fields (right?) could I be getting interference from something not shielded correctly in the panel itself? (By theway, Thanks, Uvodee!)

humm vhen using a vcr
have you tried something else than a vcr? i have sometimes had some funny picture on the of the screen caused by the vcr tape.
could be that the fans give some 'garbling' but i hoenstly doubt that , if so, it is a piece of cake to replace them, i did it !
the reset is on the remote.
I am woating for a universal learnign remote that i bought on bidz.com in order to see if i can copy the commands from the spectra remote to any other type. if so i think i promesd clifesky to sell it to him, if it works i let you know and maybe if your panel is ok you can get the codes from me as well?

Got home this morning and found the reset button you mentioned. After pressing it I seem to have use of the remote. Haven't be able to mess with the color problem though, just as soon as I flicked the switch on the OHP the lamp blew! 😡 Along with the bad some good must come....a friend who works in a large plant dropped by a good used metal halide 400w light assembly! So this week I plan to start working on adapting it to another old OHP that I've got to test using that method. So that's two bulbs I've got to go get tomorrow!
I don't have access to a DVD player yet to try a different input source (wife let me steal the VCR, but I've got to wait till she's off to work to steal the new DVD player for "testing")...hmmm...but wait...I should be able to hook an antenna into my TV3000 and test the colors from a regular tv broadcast. I think I'll go try that now.... Thanks for your help!

kind of same problem
I have the same problem with the Nview Spectra C. I have followed all necessary steps (setting windows to vga mode, the lower resolution, less than 60 h...) but it happens that a 1/5 part of the lcd panel (in the top of it) is like broken.
This is rather frustrating after bringing the lcd panel from the US ( I am in Belgium) but I wonder there is not much I can do...
I saw that someone had exactly the same problem so I still keep a last hope...
Many thanks for your help

Color Problem
Leo, mine was doing the exact same thing (color problems in the top fifth or so of the panel). I'm not sure what's causing the problem yet, but I'm thinking it may be the way the data comes through the TV3000 from the VCR. I slipped our new DVD player away from the living room and supplied the TV3000 with a different input (DVD vs. VCR) and now I do not have the problem. Apparently the TV3000 may be causing some difficulty when its using my VCR signal? However, DVD works just great with a much better overall picture and no color problems. However, the only other panel problem I'm having with my Spectra C is when ever I increase the brightness (on the TV3000) to any setting above the absolute minimum I get some strange "shimmering" of the pixels on anything "bright" on the screen. For example, in a scene that has a brightly lit blue sky, the sky with "shimmer" as if the pixels are getting overloaded or something. It also might happen when a person's face turns to the sun, the cheek might "pixel" where the sun makes it bright. I know this is not a very good description of the problem, but its the best I can do! Have you had any of this type problem?

the problem has dissapeared...
When I thought that everything was lost with my Nview Spectra C I put it over the OHP to show my kids half-screen and after a while the whole screen appeared! It seems that the screen needs some time to warm it up. I tried a couple of times and got the same result: 1/5 grey and after 5 minutes a sort of reset and the whole screen. I guess this is not very helpful to solve anybody else's problems but just in case.
Thanks for your reply smokeater.
