Pro-ject Debut III Tonearm Rewiring Question

Hello,

I cant seem to find any related info on the internet nor there any repair manuals for these turntables.
My question is if there is anyone here who had experience with rewiring or tonearm replacement on Project debut turntable.Im having trouble removing the tonearm from the base.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, My first thought is why are you doing this? I have a DBIII It is number three in my line up and only gets very modest use. The arm wiring is not really the weakest link in the chain IMHO. I found that far better performance was obtained by replacing the stylus on the factory OM cartridge with a LPGear version of the the OM30. It just plugs in. Another improvement was to replace the steel platter with the acrylic one. A final improvement was to get a speedbox for it. In the end a rather nice set up. Not up to my Sota or customized Dual, but still pretty good.

As for taking it apart, you need to remove the plastic cover under the arm and there is a large nut that holds the arm in place. You can access the wiring by removing the rubber plug in the base of the arm mount (mine had a set screw in it). The actual wire can then be removed. The arm ground wire is accessible by removing the counter weight stub. It is fastened to a lug terminal inside the arm tube.
