PRAXIS Measurement Software Tips Etc.

Praxis is a full featured audio measurement system from Bill Waslo at Liberty Instruments.
I have used his LAUD for over 10 years and am reasonably pleased with it. Those interested
can read more at the Liberty website about both of these, note that LAUD is discontinued:

Some interesting technical articles:

I'm currently trying to set up a Laptop to use Praxis in the free RTA mode and am having
some problems, or perhaps need some clarification. Liberty offers no support for use in free
mode and I thought this thread might be helpful so that those who try it don't have to
duplicate test and evaluation.

I'm wondering if the mic cal file is used in free RTA mode?
The option is there and it loads, but when I put large values
in the file it does not seem to alter the data ... hmm? It does
not say unsupported feature.

Also, does saving the hardware configuration work for others including the DAC 24/16 width setting?

Does running the RTA Cal script stick for others in that when you exit and rerun do you
have to do it all again or is it saved in the rta.cfg? This is not really a cal, it seems to be
more of a mixer setup.

I tested most of the above features on a VISTA system and an XP laptop and I have a feeling
that something strange has happened in the install/setup. I know computers well but I lean
more toward hardware so it might be an installation issue.

The manual states: "Praxis with its AudPod is able to make use of calibration files for transducers ...."

OK, so it seems that this feature is not available in demo mode, as they say read the manual. The AudPod is the full version.

I would not bother with this program in demo mode, bugs, no mic cal, etc. I usually avoid demo programs unless I plan to buy the full version, and I should have avoided this one.

I'm liking Room EQ Wizard for an RTA, and ARTA so for for MLS measurements, but I've not gotten too far into these either.

I hear that free Praxis is good for its post processing features, and can plot data files from LAUD - I'm told it is good for this purpose. YMMV!

I thought I might have had an install issue/problem, but after reinstalling I do not think this is the case. I wasted a lot of time with this program.
