Just completed a rebuild of my practice amp to try to get some better tone, and this setup is pretty decent. It's basically a minimalist version of the Practice Man amp, and is built entirely of parts bin parts. I think I'll be leaving it in this form for a while.

No way! With the resistor, the distortion in the clean channel is just a touch, barely noticeable, and I like it that way. I doubt I'll ever rip it apart again since it is a pain to work on, but if I do, I'll make the clean channel a bit dirtier still.
