while waiting for my parts to come in, I am brainstorming good screen prototypes.
How about this:
wooden fram, say 72" diagonal. Cover the front face of it with white felt. Then, cover that with a pure white bed sheet. Tighten it and staple it to frame on back. Then, using extreemly thin layers spray it with silver/chrome paint, making sure not to saturate it, just lightly dust it to make it reflective. Possibly starting off with a thin layer of white?
I can't test it because all my stuff isn't yet, but does anybody have any ideas regarding this?

i just made my screen 2day using vinyl and covering it with a bedsheet i think this wil work...im hoping..but i cant test mine either becuz my OHP bulb blew...
I had a screen made from "Dacron" sail cloth (for a sailboat) edged with a 2 inch black material. The screen is 10 feet wide by 8 feet tall with the seam running vertically up the centre. I was concerned about the seam untill I saw a projection on it...it's virtually invisable....(it became invisable after it was "fixed" the machine opperator had too much tension on the sewing machine when sewing the centre of the seam..made some "puckers") The local "Wirerope and chain" company made it for me, they also make tarps for 18 wheelers.....and funny enough...Dacron projection screens for movie theatres. I had velcro stiched on all four sides on the back to make stretching it over a frame easy.

Successful test...
You all got me thinking about screen possibilities. Someone mentioned about silver screens so I did some surfing. It seems that silver screens are used more for 3D projections ( at least that's what I read). But I noticed there was some talk about pearlescent screen materials.
First I called Screen Goo to see how much it would cost to get enough goo for a 100" screen. They said $137. Too rich for my blood! So I started researching pearlescent screens.
I went to the paint store today and bought some white pearl lustre paint and painted half of a piece of foam board.
The pearlescent side was much brighter and the colors had more excitement to them (they were brighter) It looked great! The only problem I had is I had some streaks on my board. Hopefully when I do the real painting I will put more coats or do it more evenly and it will be more uniform. I know the ideal thing would be to spray my wall. But I am terrible with a sprayer.

great comparison m8, first I gonna use blackout cloth, but gonna
test bright white jeans also, it's bright white, and should be good use. I saw it in the shop and the man said he used it for his dia projection

yeah, looks very good man...
As soon as I have some more time this weekend, I will get my new lens, and finish making my white LED array. I should have the projector completed this weekend, and then I can get the screen going.

I did some more testing on the pearl luster painted screen today. It works well except when viewed at an angle it looks a little darker. Unfortunately because of the way my theatre room is laid out, half of my sofa is away from the centerline of the screen. But it's hard to tell because the dumb foam board that I painted as a sample is curling up so I don't have a flat surface anymore.
I think I will paint the wall bright white first and see how that goes. The pearl luster gives the colors more brilliance, but limits the viewing angle.
More testing needed.
