I have read a few reviews on there 19" and they seem to be pretty fair LCD's for the money, but have poor warrenty (1year, while most have 3 years).
Anybody have one/tried one/ have any info on one?

why would the warranty matter if you are gonna rip the thing apart lol
or maybe you will just keep it for a monitor?
if you just want it as a monitor the cheap lcds are ok for web surfing or using Word, but are useless for graphic design or anything like that where you need even moderate quality output. depends on what you need it for. i bought a generic 17in lcd for $500 about 6 months ago and it was awful, sent it back, and it was supposed to be one of the decent cheapo's. I'm a prissy visual and audio snob though, so maybe you wont notice.

250:1 is pretty low for a new monitor... should be able to find a better 14" or 15" out there, at least 300-400 contrast. If you want to give it a shot, I'm sure others will want to know how DIY it is.

Forget those 14" and use 15" or bigger. Actually a 17" LCD would be a little bit better, and if you use a media player like Zoomplayer it possible to use just the center of the LCD for viewing even though the fresnel doesn't coverage all the panel area. It may also be just a matter of time when some fresnel manufacturer is found with large enough single fresnels like
this NTKJ company in Japan who make some interesting 40 x 40 cm (15.7" x 15.7") fresnels like CF225 and CF375 or CF400 (latter for longer throw use). Unfortunately I haven't been able to contact them :-(.

Well i will admit I havent been keeping up in this forum, but a bit ago it was all about getting a 14" so it would fit the OHP. The Walmart deal was great, but as somebody noted, its not as easy to get anymore if at all. I was just pointing this one out as pretty much always in stock, ok price, so-so stats... I wont be trying it as I bought a DLP projector ( all these mods where getting me into the same price as a good used DLP) to bad my bulb is only 2000 hours, this is where they fall short of the DIY, with the right Bulb DIY lasts much longer ( and is much cheaper).

250:1 isnt very bad at all, its just not up to your standards not mine either 🙂 but its better than that 186$ one that is 200:1 and its cheaper and better than most projection panels, my lcd has 350:1
i think there are 14 inch 300:1^^ lcd but i HIGHLY doubt that they will be found and cheap.
the 17 inch lcd WMP is a horrible idea IMO, i dont even think its possible to resize fulscreen... and the contrast ratio of many 17 lcds are usually the same as 15's lol and why have the size disadvantage and gain higher resolutions just to resize it in WMP and not use it in games etc... IMO
