Hey guys!
I've been registered here for some time now.
A designer and developer which happens to also love music and been learning guitar and production.
Anyhow, at home I have an old but good hi-fi from Sony. I don't need much more than this. Now, I'll go live alone and I won't have amplifier nor loudspeakers. Sound to me like the perfect opportunity to make a simple amplifier and buy some loudspeakers (maybe 4?) for the living room. I'll need maybe two rca inputs.
I don't want to spend much money. I don't think that making the loudspeakers would be a good move but the amplifier... what do you think? where should i start?

Hello Sendoushi,
maybe you can point us to very well recorded, well mastered Fado music or some 12 string viola. I have some Madre Deus which sounds great (ainda & o paraiso) and also Luz Destino on Ma Recordings (portugues baroque) which sounds fabulous even if I'm no so familiar with baroque.
On the contemporary side, I enjoyed some early Pedro Abrunhosa with colaboration of Maceo Parker (Viagens)..someone stole my CD when they broken into my car a few years ago..been thinking of buying it a second time.
cheers
Paba

Good ones paba!
Just for you to know those... You still have some other interesting bands like "Ornatos Violeta" or "A Naifa" then you have some that sing in english like "Cool Hipnoise". Maybe I could arrange you something. 🙂
Guys, what about my question? Where should I begin on the amplifiers? Cheaply.

Welcome sendoushi. I think the answer to your question depends on your own ability. If you have a working knowledge of electronics then there are many fine examples of diy amplifiers available through this forum. If like me you have limited knowledge of electronics and a low budget, it might be best to start with a fairly basic chip amp kit. There are a couple of good candidates in the commercial forum section on here, either of which might be suitable. Good luck and post some pictures if you build something.
