Plug-and-play compact 50W+ amplifier?

I am building a high-output, mono, non-battery-powered, portable speaker. In my dreams, there would be a retail 50-100W mono full-range plate amp with a summing mini-jack for phone/mp3 sources. In reality, the options are pretty bleak until the high power high-end plate amps. I'm looking for more like $175 USD (or less). A really solid 25W into 8Ω with a little headroom is the rock bottom, i.e. not a tripath chip. I could use two channels as a rather pointless bi-amplification into speaker level passive xover, but I haven't found much for retail options there either, and it's a waste of power and space.

Anyone have suggestions for doing this with the least fuss? I don't mind some soldering and whatnot, but I'm a speaker design guy, not an amp builder. I don't want to order parts from all over the place, I don't want to be drilling heatsinks, etc. Thanks in advance for any tips.
