i intend to build a push pull 6L6 amp until i was told by a couple people to go all the way to build either a 211 or 845 and not to waste time with the 6l6.

would a 211 in Single ended fashion beat a 6L6 in push pull in the area of punch bass?

i don`t have a big budget and probably won`t go for interstage irons. so? what would be a good choice?

what are your views?
i am quite confused... please help me. thanks!

6L6 PP does have great bass, especially with decent output transformers. It can also have very sweet midrange, especially with a good driver stage.

The main problem with the high power SETs are the 1KV voltages and the expensive transformers...

I have not heard 6l6 before but I have heard a good design push pull el34. The bass punch is there. If your 6l6 is design properly i would think it would have the same charteristics of a good push pull. high power set are a different game alltogether. It would take lots of manpower to do so. it took me almost 1 year to really get started in building a high power set.

211/845 would require atleast 1k to sound right at power level that is worthwhile. second u need interstage with transmitters. Or else power would be low. I would not think interstages are that expensive i wound mine localy in malaysia for 100 sing a pair.

Opt are another big problem, the size and specs are not cheap. I wound mine for 300 sing for a 9k:8 80 watts.
Both interstage and opt are wound on z11. If you are interested in them give a PM i can get some for you.

100 sing is cheap.... i`m looking at a lunduhl thats about 300...

any how... this may look like i`m going for the 6L6.

i heard a good 845 driving 845 with an interstage and found the bass. anyway. i think i`ll settle for a PP.

Thanks!

any 845 fans out there?
