Please help identifying this FRENCH driver

I have a pair of fullrange drivers that have the name Cleveland on them. They have a made in France sticker and they sound "French" like Supravox sound french.

There are a few photos coming, what i'd like to know is whether anyone else has heard of them. If you have are they early PHY prototypes as i was told by an 'expert'

The cone is paper and has an exponential profile, the sound is fabulous and they make pretty decent bass.

Some details;
Frame Dia is 237 mm cast Aluminium
Cone radiating Dia 166 mm
Voice coil approx 40 mm
And a decent sized Alnico magnet

Thanks, Poobah.
Most of us are pretty laid back ( couldn't give a rats **** )
When you come over we'll shout you a barbie an a fishin trip.
Up here we have some rather good game fishing and great islands for camping.
Just don't ask for Fosters, that muck is for export to non discerning foreigners.

ex,

I don't do Foster's, relax.

I have an old friend from Oz that used to work with/for me, in a way. He would give his shirt, wallet, car, maybe a wife, to a friend. He would break your face, if you brought it round dirty...

Cheers mate!

NO more jokes!

Lagroute, Scottmoose, mucho thanks. The driver has high sensitivity i measured at 93dB and an fs of 29 Hz. the top end goes out to above 15k, about as high as i can hear.

As i stated previously the sound is sublime even with the dodgy vinyl surrounds.

Is it possible that the vinyl surround is genuine 😱

Lagroute,

Thank you very much for your help. Now that they are identified i need to work out what to do with them.

Do you know of any cabinet designs for them ?

After googling i have found a page in italy that shows these old drivers as made by Vega. As far as i can decipher it they date from 1963.

Any help at all would be most appreciated.
