Hi Pass experts,
I just finished one of my Aleph 5 monoblocks and wanted to test it.
When I start up the monoblock (nothing connected on the inputs and just the multimeter on the speaker-outputs) I noticed this:
The amplifiers starts with about 3 Volt DC on the speakeroutputs, then it slowly goes down to about 0,03 Volt DC after a few minutes.
When I shut down the monoblock, the DC voltage rises up to 7 Volt DC and then goes down to abou 3 Volts. It then goes further down but very slowly.
What might be wrong?
Better not connecting any speakers now?
Any help appreciated!
Regards,
Lucas.

Try connecting a dummy load (a resistor) with a value of about 10 ohms to the output and then check these values again.
The peak voltages should be lower and faster.
Next step, if everything is fine, connect a signal generator to the input and a oscilloscope to the output...
What about posting some pics?

Thank Andrea!
I did that and with a load it had a much lower peak and died out faster.
Then I tried a simple auto-speaker. Everything was right.
Then I tried this one monoblock on my normal speakers.
It performs well...
I will post foto's much later since I don't have a digital camera,
but I will do it.
Thanks again,
Lucas
Taco said:Nice job! You build the amplifier without a mistake?
It seems so!
Now I must build the second one. This should take only one or two days.
However, I am not wholly satisfied with the layout of cables.
I use two sets of capacitors (64 mF each) divided by a 3.9 mH inductor. This gives a dreadful salad of cables...
Must find a way to lay them out in a cleaner way.
Now I heard a slight HF noise, but only when I press my ear close to the speaker.
Greetings,
Lucas.
I am happy my suggestion worked fine (like your amp!!)
I am in the middle of building a Aleph 30, but since I have very few time its construction is going on slowly... hope to finish it soon....
Cheers
