Does anyone know what drivers are used in the Pinnacle Subsonic (and if they're available to diy'ers)?
I've got a modest sub at home already
but I want something a little more discreet for the office. This little monster is really appealing but the price is a bit steep. If I can get appropriate drivers it would be a nice little diy project.
Thoughts?
Thanks

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Hey George,
Why not make something using either the BluePrint 1003 or the Super 8" woofer from Apex Jr?

Hey Thomas,
I was originally thinking along those lines, and those look like they'd be great choices. Its an 'at work' office though, not a home office, so I should probably temper my passion for overkill and keep the components as compact and discrete as possible. I can't really take advantage of a lot of power without "rattling the neighbors' cages" anyway. Its also a small space so it shouldn't take much to get decent extension at modest volume.
The pinacle reviews had me thinking a couple high excursion 6's might make a nice stealthy LCD monitor stand/bass box. With the bass unit front and center the 'mains' could be small wide ranges that wouldn't need to reach low enough for use with a normal sub. Obviously a compromise system, but that was the thinking anyway.
My earlier searches didn't turn up Adire's new 6" driver. That looks like an interesting candidate. Any and all suggestions appreciated though.
Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe those 6.5 TBs with xbl^2 and 12mm xmax(or some crazy number like that). theyre not to expensive and you can get them at partsexpress. Iso baric maybe? tiny box, low bass, and it should sound good too.

Dang it Thomas! Now you've got me eyeballing that BluePrint!

Maybe I can hide it behind the display... 😀
